SM series from JST is a fairly compact (0.1'' pitch) wire to wire connector that has a latch and works excellent for small signals and accessory power up to about 2 amps. Our experience is that an anderson connector with 12g wire is reliable up to about 60A of continuous current, but as you deal with 70+ amps (such as the phase current on a powerful ebike motor) then it's possible for the connector housing to soften and melt, resulting in an intermittent and unreliable contact.
